Born in Wilson County, North Carolina
Attended Johnston County Public Schools.
Graduated from North Johnston High School
Graduated from Wake Forest University with a BA in History in 1974 and from Wake Forest Law School in 1977
Practiced law in Wayne County from 1977-1984
Elected Clerk of Superior Court in 1984 and served until 1996
Elected District Court Judge in 1996 and served until retirement in 2018.
Appointed as Chief District Court Judge by Chief Justice of the NC Supreme Court in 2008 and remained in that capacity until retirement.

Married to wife, Pam, for 35 years. We have three children and one granddaughter.
